First Dinner, Last Post

At the tender age of 4 weeks we took Elias out to dinner for the first time. It will come as little surprise to many that we chose Can-Can for this auspicious occasion. Alas, you will not read about it here. Read, Drink, & Be Merry has pulled up stakes and has moved to a new home. It is still under a bit of construction but is ready for visitors. In future you will find me at:

readdrinkandbemerry.com

The new site will also be aggregated by the new site, Eating Richmond. This site was created by RVA Foodie, Matt Marinara and myself. Actually, Matt did most of the heavy lifting, Jason did most of the recruiting, and Mrs Foodie, Karen, did a bang up design on the site. I've been a little preoccupied as of late with the new baby, corporate tax year closing and such. Basically I got everyone drunk a lot. But hey, every organization needs a party planner. Everyone did a great job and the site looks to be a lot of fun.

I will keep this site up but no longer post to it. In a month or so I will shut it down and delete the blog. All previous post and comments have already been moved to the new site.

I have decided not to aggregate my new site to RVA Blogs. The past year has been fun being part of that community. I've made a lot of friends and sparred with a few others. The conversation has been fun. Laughing with Jack and laughing at Meade. It's been a real asset to the community. Nothing against Ross and all the hard work he put in creating such a wonderful meeting place but the explosion and cacaphony of the commercial sites has caused me to lose interest in visiting RVA Blogs of late and wading through the RTD psuedo blogs, ET's daily food offerings, and the new trend towards the top blog posts turning out to be real estate ads. I understand Ross is working on a RVA Blogs 2.0 and when that rolls out I will rethink this decision.

In the meantime I hope you follow me over to my new blog or at least over to Eating Richmond. If not then...

I'm so glad we had this time together
Just to have a laugh and sing a song
Seems we just got started and before you know it
Comes the time we have to say, 'So long.

Skol! *tugs ear*

both new websites are blocked by my filter at work as Spam email URLs. Is there anything you can do to change this?

I'll check with our computer gurus and let you know how to get around that - if possible.

I agree regarding the current status of RVA Blogs, even though is has been kind to me, keeping me on the top blog list even when I hadn't posted in months, but that's another story.

The commercial blogs are crowding out the creative and personal ones, knocking them off the front page in less than a day which severly limits their exposure. I hope they do an upgrade take back their rightful place as the center of RVA Blogging. They are largely responsible for a lot of bloggers success and it's nice to have a local source that focuses strictly on Richmond.
